Welcome to PowerBBS for Windows (Shareware). An an product, this is a true Shareware package. The following illustrates installing PowerBBS. It is suggested that you also take a look at the PBBSDOC.WRI file on disk #3 of the shareware distribution for a complete introduction to PowerBBS. This file is in Windows Write format. Simply run WRITE.EXE from within windows and load this file, for easy viewing and printing. Upgrading From Previous Version Follow the normal instructions for installing as explained below. If SETUP determines that you already have PowerBBS set up, it will only replace the files that are newer than the ones already found on your system. Installing Create a temporary directory on your drive (for example TEMP). PKUNZIP the shareware files onto this directory. Then from within the Windows Program Manager select File, Run, SETUP.EXE (you can use the browse button to find SETUP.EXE). SETUP first needs to know where the files are located. If you are installing from the A drive, then you simply need to put A:\. SETUP also needs to know where to install PowerBBS to. If you want to install to your C: drive, put C:\. For the D drive, put D:\, and so on. PowerBBS will now be installed in its default configuration. When the SETUP program is finished, you will have a fully functional, local node. Keep in mind that SETUP also needs to create a users file, and will ask you for your user Name and password. You must have this information to log onto your BBS later. Do not forget them and try to use some unique password that you are not using on any other system.
