This problem occurs after running the maintenance release patch to upgrade your WinFax PRO 3.0 installation to the April 21, 1993 release or later. Solution: ========= To correct the problem, modify the [WfxPbLinks] section of your WIN.INI file. If this section does not exist, you must add it. 1. Open the WIN.INI file in Windows Notepad, or any other basic text editor. The WIN.INI file is located in your Windows directory (for example, C:\WINDOWS). 2. If it exists, the [WfxPbLinks] section appears as follows: [WfxPbLinks] PackRat=1,packrat.exe,PackRat,System,PACK3 PackRat4.0=1,packrat.exe,PackRat,System,PACK3 3. Edit or add the [WfxPbLinks] section to reflect the location of the PackRat files on your hard drive for the version of the software you are using. For example, if your PackRat software is located in C:\PACKRAT, change or add the parameters as follows ... - For PackRat versions 3.x or 4.1, change the first parameter to: PackRat=1,c:\packrat,packrat.exe,PackRat,System,PACK3 - For PackRat version 4.0, change the second parameter to: PackRat4.0=1,c:\packrat,packrat.exe,PackRat,System,PACK3 - For PackRat version 5.0, add the following line: PackRat5.0=1,packrat.exe,PackRat,PhoneBook,PackRat Note: These settings are not case sensitive. 4. Save the changes to your WIN.INI file, and exit the text editor. Access to the PackRat phonebook is restored when you next start WinFax.
