RESDUET+ 1.0 Information 10/93 ******************************************************************* +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ This is not freeware and if you like it and use it you should send a mere $15 to me at the address that follows. By doing this you will feel very good about yourself (and so will I) and you will be helping me spend more time at the beach. Oh, and you'll also receive the first update which will be available soon. This update will have more features, a better look and will have user-customizing possibilities to add your own programs to The File Machine. And it won't have the opening box when executed (the "nag" box won't nag). Please send your name & address and the (miniscule) $15 to register this program to: Michael Grice 8234 Excelsior Drive Pensacola, Florida 32514 Also include any comments, suggestions or ideas and any problems. I can also be reached at America-On-Line (Mikey32514) and CompuServe (72144,1537). The information about this program will follow soon but I just want to mention that there are a couple "light" humorous message boxes used in this program instead of the usual common (sometimes technical and boring) messages. I hope you like them. If you do, please let me know because I really would like to add more. If not, please don't take offense. There are no warranties, expressed OR implied. The author is in NO WAY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING MENTAL, PHYSICAL, MONETARY, ETC., TO THE USER OR COMPUTER OR PETS OR NEIGHBORS OR SPOUSES. U S E A T Y O U R O W N R I S K !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To run RESDUET+ you will need the VBRUN300.DLL Visual Basic runtime file (found on most BBS's) in your Windows or Windows/system directory (as long as this is in your path statement). Then add a new program item to one of your groups (File*New*OK, etc.) using the icon with RESDUET+. I don't know if this will run in Windows 3.0 but it should. The files included with RESDUET+ are: 1. resduet.exe - to be placed in any directory (you may want this in your start-up group also). 2. resduet.txt - this file 3. threed.vbx - to be placed in your Windows or Windows\system directory if you don't already have it. (Please make sure this is the most recent version). 4. resduet.ini - will only be created in your Windows directory (assuming Windows is on your "C" drive) if you change the restart/resource panel position and save the change. ======================================================================= RESTART/RESOURCE PANEL: I won't get into very many instructions here because they are included in the program but the important ones are; * To re-position the restart/resource panel, click on the "time" panel with the right mouse button. * To read the restart/resource panel instructions, click on the "resource" panel with the right mouse button. * To open The File Machine, click on the "time" panel with the left mouse button. * To check your available memory space and available disk space, click on the "resource" panel with your right mouse button. ####################################################################### THE FILE MACHINE: Most of this is self-explanatory and also includes instructions. The "buttons" in the center of The File Machine open the pictured files when you click on them with the left mouse button. If you click on them with the right mouse button a different file opens. These files are; LEFT BUTTON RIGHT BUTTON File Manager Win.ini in Notepad Program Manager System.ini in Notepad Control Panel Windows Setup Notepad Autoexec.bat in Notepad Write Nothing (except ?) System Edit (Sysedit) Config.sys in Notepad Registration Edit (Regedit) Nothing (maybe) PIF Editor DOS Prompt Clipboard Character Map Paintbrush Object Packager Card File Terminal (really!) Calculator Minesweeper Sound Recorder Media Player Recorder Nothing (guess) Print Manager Solitaire ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((( That's about all for me. Well, almost. One thing I hate to see in any program or text file or in any printed piece (magazine, letter, newspaper)is bad grammar and misspelled words (obviously, newspapers drive me crazy). So, if you find any in my programs please let me know how completely stupid I am. Thanks and have fun. P.S. I actually haven't seen the beach in months.
