INTERLAC PostScript Type1 Font Version 2.0 ========================================== by Kashif Husain (a.k.a. Blue Panther) Ostring-74 65824 Schwalbach GERMANY CompuServe: 100143,3316 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CONTENTS: Following files are part of this Freeware font: INTERPSH.AFM INTERPSH.PFB INTERPSH.PFM README.TXT (this file) FILE_ID.DIZ (short description) This is a scaleable computer font designed after the characters and language shown in comics published by DC Comics Inc.: "Legion of Super-Heroes" (LSH) and "Legionnaires". INSTALLATION: This is a fully scaleable PostScript Type1 fonts for use with the Adobe Type Manger or compatible font manager in DOS/MS Windows, IBM OS/2, Commodore Amiga, Atari Computers and PostScript printers. Please refer to your Operating System or font manager manual for instructions how to install this Type1 font. It may be possible that not all three font files are necessary for using the Interlac font. Your font manager should be able to select the needed files. If you need TrueType fonts for your computer (as they come with MS Windows 3.1, or OS/2 2.1) please use the fully scaleable Interlac TrueType font by the same author. If you need an Interlac font for Apple Macintosh computers, please use the conversion of my font by Joe Sewell (CompuServe ID:74136,360). HISTORY: "The designated language of the United Planets is Interlac, based on the Terran English with liberal additions from other Terran languages. In its most basic form the symbols of the language correspond perfectly to the twenty-six letters of the English language; the numbering system corresponds to Earth Base-Ten form. As the official U.P. language, Interlac is thought in schools throughout the system and is the common form of communication between most sentient United Planet races." (after "Who's Who in the Legion of Super-Heroes #1" - 1988) I made subtle changes to the original designs for esthetical reasons since this language was never really "intended" by the Legion of Super-Heroes artists to be used as computer font. This font is not perfect in any way but it was the best I could manage in a short time-frame. Unlike in my TrueType Interlac font (which contains 4 monitor board sybols only beside the normal alphabet) I was able to include the monitor board symbols of some Legion members in this Type1 font. Following Legionnaires are saved in this font (ASCII character number in brackets): Blok (char.#220) Bouncing Boy (char.#211) Brainiac 5 (char.#222) Chameleon Boy (char.#223) Colossal Boy (char.#224) Dawnstar (char.#225) Dream Girl (char.#226) Duo Damsel (char.#227) Element Lad (char.#228) Ferro Lad (char.#229) Invisible Kid (char.#230) Karate Kid (char.#231) Light Lass (char.#232) Mon-El (char.#233) Phantom Girl (char.234) Quislet (char.#235) Superboy (char.#236) Lightning Lad (char.#237) Cosmic Boy (char.#238) Saturn Girl (char.#239) Sensor Girl (char.#240) Shadow Lass (char.241) Shrinking Violet (char.#242) Star Boy (char.#243) Tellus (char.#244) Matter-Eater Lad (char.#245) Timber Wolf (char.#246) White Witch (char.#247) Wildfire (char.#248) On PC's these symbol characters can be accessed via the pressing the "ALT" key and the character numbers on the external numerical pad. Obviously the monitor board symbols are not very up-to-date but since these are only bonus characters I did not want to spend time updating them. Look for various Public Domain Legionnaire symbols in icon-form by other authors for a complete list. This is the second time I created an Interlac font because the first version (created in August 1993) had "solid" characters (unlike this font which is "hollow", just like in the original comic design). NOTE: The INTERLAC font is expressly released as "Freeware" - you are under no obligation to remit any fee for its continued use. If you like it, keep it! Enjoy! Share it freely with your friends! I do ask that you distribute this INTERLAC font together with this README.TXT textfile. Please contact me if you want to make any changes to this font. I welcome feedback at any time - the best way to reach me is by leaving me CompuServe mail (ID: 100143,3316), or sending hardcopy mail to the address shown above. DISCLAIMER: I can not guaranty that these files will work with your computer configuration (although the font worked perfectly on all the computers I could get my hand on). However, even if you encounter problems, there is actually no possibility that these files could harm your hardware or software in any way! If you don't like the font you can delete it by removing the files anytime without difficulties. Kashif Husain, February 1st, 1994 Adobe Type Manager (c) Adobe Systems Inc.
