MODEMSTA: Modem status iconic indicator for Windows using 3D animated icon. New in ver 1.3: Show and delete log files from Setup dialog. New in ver 1.2: multiple port detection, RI and DCD detection & logging, change lamp color and update rate, help file system, and QuasiModem - stand-alone ring indicator. MODEMSTA requires Windows 3.1 or higher. ======================================================================== INSTALLATION. Copy MODEMSTA.EXE, MODEMSTA.HLP and QUASIMOD.EXE to any directory of Your PATH. Copy CTL3D.DLL to the Windows system directory (e.g. C.\WIN\SYSTEM) if You do not have CTL3D.DLL before. Do not overwrite a newer copy of CTL3D.DLL. The copy in this library if from 03-01-94. ModemSta will check all possible ports and select the first available port (e.g. COM1) first time You run the program. If You have several COM ports available and Your modem uses a higher COM port (e.g. COM3 or COM4), please change COM port using the SYSTEMS MENU (click once on the icon), before continuing. Settings are changed by selecting "Setup & About..." from the SYSTEMS MENU where also the HELP FILE can be reached. An initiation file (MODEMSTA.INI) with all Port setting, screen positions etc. will be created in Your Windows directory (e.g. C:\WIN) when You start the program. If You turn on RI or DCD logging, MODEMSTA.RI, QUASIMOD.RI and MODEMSTA.DCD may later be created in the ModemSta/QuasiModem's directory. You can add the file name MODEMSTA.EXE or QUASIMOD.EXE to the LOAD= line or RUN= line in Your WIN.INI file or put the icon in Window's start-up group, so ModemSta or QuasiModem loads each time You start Windows. Uninstall: Delete MODEMSTA.EXE, MODEMSTA.HLP and QUASIMOD.EXE in the directory You installed them. If You have tested RI or DCD-logging, look for and delete MODEMSTA.RI, QUASIMOD.RI and MODEMSTA.DCD in the same directory. Finally, delete MODEMSTA.INI in the Windows directory. ======================================================================== You can now read more about the program and its settings in the HELP file!
