GENERAL HELP/INSTRUCTIONS: Backup your disk! DO NOY use original disks so if something happens you will have the original. Do a directory listing of the disk.e.g.Put the disk in drive A: and type Dir A: Look for documentation files.These are files that typically end with TXT,DOC or similar.Alos,look for files such as read.me,readme.1st View on your screen or print the documentation files.To view the files. TYPE FILENAME.EXE|MORE Where filename.ext is the proper filename and extension.To print the files to a parallel printer,type Copy FILENAME.EXT PRN. Look for files ending with EXE.CO,or BAT. You may run these files straight from the DOS command line by simply typing in the first part of the filename i.e. type CARDS to run the file called CARDS.EXE For files ending with BAS,you must first run BASIC, or GWBASIC See your DOS manual for details. Zipped files some have been compressed in order to get them to fit on fewer disks.When space permits we put the proper unzipping program on the disk as well as a file of general instructions.To extract a file called FINANCE on drive A: to a subdirectory called "NOW" on a hard disk,first make the subdir MD\NOW,and then issue the command: PKUNZIP FINANCE C:\NOW ENTER. Run HELPUNZIP AND BHELP.COM for more information. Self-extracting files -similar to zipped files.Please see the file Readme.exe for more details.These should not be run from the floppy disk. When space permits,we put your own install program on the disks that have self-extracting files.Look for a file called install.exe.Simply running this file will walk you through the installation process.You should be able to just press Enter at each screen to accept the defaults.Please run the file help.com that is found on most our disk.This files gives more general instructions on running the various programs. For Windows: See if there is an install.exe.It will say if you have to run it from Windows.If there is an install.exe.it will typically copy the files over to your hard disk and extract them if needed.In order to run the program fromwithin Windows,first run the file Manager.Then get the location where you copied the program, and doubble -click on the proper EXE file. If you're running Windows 3.1 and what to add the program to a group,from within File Manager single click on the proper EXE file and drage it to the group and release the mouse.Other Windows programs have a built-in install routine which includes instructions on the disk.
