ProjectsNexus for Windows(tm) 3.1+ ----------------------------------------------- projects/objects/documents development records (with binary objects storage) a product of RCCO Research -------------------------------------------------------------------------- To install this Windows(tm) program on your computer (see Important Installation Note below *before* installing): 1. Start Windows. 2. Insert Disk 1 in either Drive A: or Drive B:. 3. Select File>>Run from the Program Manager main menu. Type A:SETUP or B:SETUP, depending on which drive contains the installation diskette, then select . As an alternative, you may open the File Manager, select the drive containing Disk 1 and launch the file SETUP.EXE by double-clicking on the file name. 4. Follow the Setup instructions on the screen. Program requirements: 80386sx or greater, 4mb memory minimum (6mb or more highly recommended), ca. 5mb available hard disk space; DOS 3.1 or greater, Windows(tm) v3.1 (or greater) running in Enhanced Mode. 640x480 VGA recommended. *IMPORTANT* INSTALLATION NOTE ------------------------------ for Windows 3.1 users only: *Before* running Setup to install this pro- gram, you must either be running the DOS program SHARE.EXE or the Windows VSHARE.386 device driver on your system. This is applicable even on single- user systems. If you are *not* currently using either, copy the file VSHARE.386 from Installation Disk 1 over to your Windows System directory (for example, C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM) and add the following line to your SYSTEM.INI file (located in the Windows directory, usually C:\WINDOWS), under the section labeled [386Enh], preferably as the first line: device=vshare.386 Save the change and *restart* Windows for the change to take effect. You may then run this program's Setup as well as the program itself. Without this change, Setup will fail and the program will not run. If the user is utilizing the Windows for Workgroups(tm) system or a version of Windows greater than Windows 3.1, VSHARE.386 should already be running on the system. Additional notes: ----------------- Please note that this program is *not* one that may be run from a File Manager by double-clicking on an executable file name. The required command-line parameters will not be available to the program in this manner. To run the program, click on the program's icon in Program Manager (or other shell). If you wish to know (or record for archival purposes) the needed parameters, you may view the Properties option for the program item in the Program Manager. We suggest, if you are a new user of ProjectsNexus, that you not delete the three sample entries in the data table until the functionality and operation of the Object Attach component (OLE 2.0 automation) has been observed, even if you have no current plans to make use of this facility. When viewing the sample entries in either Form View or Table View, simply click on the command button to observe this facility; you may wish to try cutting and pasting these objects as well as experimenting with binary objects of your own interest before deleting the three sample records. See the on-line documentation under the heading "Attached Objects" for more information.
