Thanks. ANTARCTICA DXPEDITION. The VP8SGP operation is still a go. Departure from the Falkland Islands will be on December 31 with arrival on South Georgia Island expected to be January 4. NEPAL AND BANGLADESH. Japan UNICEF Ham Club members were supposed to have been on the air from Nepal by now. There have been no PacketCluster spots for them on our local Connecticut node. Plans were for this group to move on to Bangladesh and operate from there during the first week of the new year. Keep an eye on the PacketCluster network. PACIFIC DXPEDITION. Masa, JE1DXC, has worked around earlier flight reservation problems and his island hopping trip is now back on. Operations will be on 80 through 10 meters with CW, RTTY and SSB. January 19 and 20 he will operate as 3D2XC from Vanua Levu, IOTA OC-016. From January 21 to 26 he will sign T30XC from the Gilbert Islands, IOTA OC-017. Listen for T20XC on Tuvalu, IOTA 0C-015, from January 27 to February 2. February 3, 4 and 5 he will be back at Vanua Levu. QSL via JE1DXC. VATICAN. Edward, W9SI/OA4SS, will be returning to Vatican City to work as an interpreter. His stay should be from early January through March 25. Though his work schedule will limit on the air activities, there will be some operating windows. They are Monday through Friday from 1400 to 1530 and 1930 to 2300z, Saturdays from 1400 to 1830 and 1930 to 2230z, and Sundays from 0800 to 1130, 1430 to 1830 and 1930 to 2230z. He also reports that the installation of a satellite array is slated for January or February. QSL via I0DUD. Edward maintains schedules Monday through Friday with KD8WS on either 21435 kHz at 1740z or the IMRA Net on 14280 kHz. EGYPT. Said, SU1SK, reports that IK8AUC is not QSL Manager for his station. CAYMAN ISLANDS. Isao, JH1ROJ, should be on the air as ZF2RO from December 29 to January 5. Listen on 75 through 10 meters for his CW and SSB. QSL his home call. BARBADOS. Chris, G3VBL, is active as 8P9EM until January 12. He favors CW on the WARC bands. QSL via G3VBL. THIS WEEKEND ON THE RADIO. The ARRL Straight Key Night is actually a 24 hour operating event starting at 7 PM EST December 31. In this low pressure event make friends on CW using a straight key.
