On Saturday and Sunday there were no visible sunspots. Geomagnetic indices were also quiet, and over the weekend there were many periods with a K index of zero. Look for solar flux to rise slightly to a peak near 85 around January 8 and 9, and then dip again to the low seventies for the last half of January. Geomagnetic indices should be very quiet, except January 20 and 21 when we should see some mildly unsettled conditions. Sunspot Numbers for December 29 through January 4 were 40, 12, 0, 0, 11, 24 and 36, with a mean of 17.6. 10.7 cm flux was 79.7, 76.6, 77.4, 75.4, 77.3, 76.8 and 76.9, with a mean of 77.2. The path projections for this week are from Las Vegas, Nevada and Jacksonville, Florida to Lebanon. From Nevada, 80 meters should be good around local sunset and again after 0130 to 0500z. Check 40 meters around local sunrise and from 2330 to 0230 and again from 0500 to 0600. 30 meters looks good from 1500 to 1630 and around 2230 to 0030. 20 meters should open most days around 1530 to 1600. From Jacksonville 80 meters should be good from local sunset until around 0530z, after sunrise in Lebanon. 40 meters should be open from 2130 to 0630, with marginal conditions around 0100. 30 meters may be open around 2000 to 2230, and 20 meters from 1300 to 1630. 17 meters looks good from 1430 to 1545.
