ARLX002 Event honors Challenger
 
The Chattanooga Amateur Radio Club, W4AM, will operate a special
event station from the new Challenger Learning and Teaching Center
of Chattanooga, from 1100 UTC January 27 until 2100 UTC January 28.
 
The Learning Center is named for the space shuttle Challenger and
its seven astronauts who perished in January 1986.  The center has
dedicated space and resources to Amateur Radio, according to club
spokesman Tom Cash, K4ZQX.
 
The club hopes to attract young people to their station and
operation during the center's opening.  The station will sign W4AM
and operate near the middle of General class phone bands on 80, 40,
20, 15, and 10 meters, as well as on 2 meters and 70-cm simplex.
