We teach meditation and Buddhism through our courses and retreats, but most importantly, Aryaloka exists to provide the facilities by which men and women can deepen their practice of Buddhist spiritual life. We welcome guests to come and immerse themselves in the Buddhist life for any period from a day to a month. The Friends of the Western Buddhist Order (FWBO) is an international Buddhist movement. It was founded in 1967 by Sangharakshita, a teacher and well-known writer on Buddhism who, although English by birth, spent twenty years in the East, studying and practicing the Buddhism of many schools. It is a non-sectarian movement which uses key teachings from several schools of Buddhism, as well as encouraging an appreciation of Western arts and culture. Aryaloka is located in Newmarket, 60 miles north of Boston and 15 miles west of Portsmouth. Trailways has a regular bus service from Boston and Logan airport to Pease, Newington. [end]
