B O W L - 1 0 1 Q U I C K S T A R T Bowl101 is an easy yet flexible program. The only thing that may be difficult is the Startup routine, but that is loaded with help screens such as this one to guide you through. Press F1 if you don't understand a question in startup and additional information will be provided through a help screen. After the initial startup, all that is necessary for you, is to enter the scores each bowler bowls. You may run Bowl101 several ways... BOWL101 This will the program running and ask for league names. BOWL101 A: This starts Bowl101 and logs to the A drive. BOWL101 B: This starts Bowl101 and logs to the B drive. Bowl101 will have you create a league, this is actually a subdirectory and you may have as many leagues as desired. When the program creates a new league or directory, when you start Bowl101 again, these names will appear in a box and then you can pick the league you wish to run. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HERE ARE THE STEPS TO A QUICK START. 1. Select Startup from the main menu. 2. Select Basic Startup. 3. Enter the names and phone numbers of the league officers and association. 4. Enter type of scoring system for a standard scoring system. Those options on the menu that can't be selected, can be from the custom startup. 5. Follow the computeres lead, only the questions you will be asked for are then ones that apply to your scoring system in the basic startup. 6. Number of games to keep averages. This will be zero unless you want to keep the average for several weeks. If this is the case, enter the number of games to keep the average. If you enter a number larger than zero the computer will ask you to enter 1 for bowers to calculate the averages ( Total pins divided by games bowled) or 2 if you want to keep there entering average for the number of games specified here. The computer will use the same average for this many games. After the specified number of games, the program will convert the 2 to a 1. 7. Complete the rest of the Startup data, including names of teams and bowlers, also include entering averages. 8. You may save yourself many hours setting up the program if you have a large league by selecting 4 teams the first time you run the program. Choose the first 4 teams and set the number of bowlers to 2. Now run some sample data using this small league for several games, saving your data as you would normally. Exit the program and then run it from the start. Load the last file in and enter scores one more time. When you are satisfied with the results, load in 00START.BWL, select input startup, change to the proper number of teams and bowlers. Step through the rest of startup and add the rest of the teams and bowlers. Delete the datafiles you have created in this play session (under Files). 9. Save as START. This file should only contain names and entering averages. !!!! Do not attempt to save data on the distribution disk, there is not enough room unless you are using a 3.5 inch disk.!!!! 10. Select Input scores from the main menu and follow the prompts. 11. Enter the number of subs that bowled for this team or zero if none bowled 12. Enter the handicaps if asked and the scores. Totals should match. 13. If you must redo any score then press the up arrow to move back one field. 14. To enter a handicap, press up the up arrow while on first game of that bowler. To enter number of subs again, press Page up. 15. When all scores are entered, you will be asked to save your data. 16. Select a filename that includes the date bowled. Example... For November 2, enter NOV02 for a filename. The computer will try to provide the right name. 17. Print standing sheets and/or recap sheets. NEXT WEEK 1. Load in last weeks data. (01NOV02.BWL). This file contains all of data to date. Append to this file and create another file for the second week, NOV09. 2. Select INPUT SCORES. We will just input this weeks scores by selecting Input Scores. Each screen should match the score sheets exactly before saying Y this is correct. This will add this weeks data to last weeks data and we will save the data again. This time save as this week. NOV09. The computer will add the extension and the week number to make it... 02NOV09.BWL. 3. You will have one file for each week bowled, plus 00START.BWL. These files will also be used for the individual recap sheets at the end of the year so never delete them during the year. 4. When familiar with Bowl101, select Options and remove help screen, this will turn off the help screen and also remove the flashing from the prompt asking you to press F1 for help at the bottom of the screen.
