Why Not A Printed Database? A printed database or directory is great - at the time the information is gathered. But by the time it is printed and distributed it is out of date. Making changes on a printed directory is very difficult and often illegible. Not so with BFP or ADBFP. When you want to add a vendor or product, change a telephone number, or make notes, all you do is access the record you want to change and change it - or simply add a new record. Also, in a printed directory the publisher is limited in the number of classifications available. Not so with BFP or ADBVP. You could conceivabley have 100,000 records and 100,000 different classifications and find any one of them in a couple of keystrokes. With the memo field and mini word-processor linked to each record, you have plenty of space to include pricing information, order and inquiry information, etc. Many printed directories have several different cross references. In other words you might have the company name and address in one section, a second section of products with only the name of the companies that have that particular product, and yet another section that lists the companies by geographical location. In BFP or ADBFP, you don't have to thumb through those sections. Simply find the product or vendor you are looking for in a keystroke and all of the information is on your screen in one place.
