HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP)

The primary communications and server protocol of the Web is HTTP, the HyperText Transfer Protocol. HTTP is a fast, light-weight protocol specifically designed for the interactive, hypermedia environment of the Web.

NCSA Mosaic can also communicate with other Internet protocols, including FTP, Gopher, WAIS, and NNTP.
