The ScanJet IICX works great under OS/2 Warp and DeskScan Version 2.1 Make sure you are using the HPC2502/3A SCSI controller board that came with the scanner. It is the new Switchless board. How to determine which SCSI controller board: 1. Boot up under DOS and Windows. 2. Run SCSIADDR.EXE that came with DeskScan. How to configure your system: 1. Go into HPPER forum in CompuServe. (Hewlett Packard Peripherals) 2. Download a file named ASPIDR.ZIP and unzip it. 3. The file you need is C2502-3A.SYS (Replaces MINI400I.SYS) 4. Copy C2502-3A.SYS to the Deskscan subdirectory. 5. Edit your SYSTEM.INI file in your WINDOWS subdirectory as follows: a. Find the section [386enh] b. Put a ; at the beginning of the line that contains WIN400I.386. 1) The ; disables that line. 2) If all works great you can eventually delete that line. 6. Make sure that the following two lines are in your OS/2 CONFIG.SYS. a. BASEDEV=OS2ASPI.DMD 1) This file is in you \OS2\BOOT subdirectory. Do not type the path. Type exactly as above. b. DEVICE=D:\OS2\MDOS\VASPI.SYS 1) D: may need to be C: or whatever your OS2 boot drive is. c. Make sure the BASEDEV statement is before the DEVICE statement. 7. Change your WINOS2 Full Screen Session settings. (NOTE: This could also be a DeskScan WIN-OS/2 Separate Session.) a. Right mouse click on WINOS2 Full Screen icon. b. Left mouse click on Settings. c. Left mouse click Session. d. Left mouse click WIN-OS/2 settings... e. Left mouse click Other DOS settings then OK. f. Left mouse click DOS_DEVICE. g. Left mouse click in Value box and type the following two lines: C:\DESKSCAN\C2502-3A.SYS C:\DESKSCAN\SJIIX.SYS h. NOTE: Your drive and directory may be different! i. Left mouse click on SAVE. j. Close Settings dialog box. 8. Reboot your computer. After these steps Deskscan will work. If it doesn't double check all of your drive and directory statements that you added for errors. Example: C:\DESKSCEN should be C:\DESKSCAN None of these steps can be missed. Sincerly, Jerry Crofoot 76447,2334
