Dear ShareWare Vendor/SYSOP: This file contains our distribution policy and information about DEADWOOD. DEADWOOD is protected under United States and international law by registered copyrights. As a shareware distributor, you have permission to distribute our shareware in its original electronic form as long as you: * identify it as shareware (with an appropriate definition), clearly indicating to potential customers that there is a registration fee * leave all intellectual property (copyright) notices in place ..and as long as we do not request that you stop. You may archive our programs, unarchive them, use your own installation routines, include them with other programs on the same diskette, and do essentially anything you want as long as you follow these simple rules. I want the widest possible distribution, and I don't want to stand in your way so long as you are honest with our mutual customers. ************************************************************************ New versions are offered to registered users and are automatically shipped to new registrants. New versions are posted on Compuserve (use IBMFF on ID 76635,1012) DEADWOOD is NOT limited or crippled in any fashion. The only difference in the registered DEADWOOD.EXE is the absence of the word "unregistered" at the top of the screen, the SINGLE occurance of a pop-up Registration Reminder Screen is gone, and there is no begging statement on exit. The TSR's in the registered version are the same. If you have any questions, concerns, or complaints, please contact me: Christopher B. Eckles P.O. It has two parts: a pair of small (19k total), well-behaved TSR's that track file use (under both DOS and Windows), and a file management interface. The user starts the TSR's and does normal operations on his/her system. Performance impact is minimal. After a while, the TSR's are unloaded and the DEADWOOD interface is run. DEADWOOD then displays all files, and each file is listed as Unused or has codes indicating that the file was Created, Executed, Opened for read/write, Searched for by name, and/or Searched for by wildcards. Number of accesses and date/time of last access are also listed. You can use the interface to view, move, rename, copy, or delete files. Directories can be added or deleted. All files, including Hidden and System files, can be displayed if desired. Read-Only files can be deleted. Screen colors can be changed. Setup can be saved. An interesting interim product is a list of each file that DOS attempts to access, in order, with an access code. This gives a fascinating insight into how DOS works, and is guaranteed to send you screaming to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file to shorten your PATH! Registered users get the latest version, a printed manual, and OptiPath. OptiPath is a program that analyzes disk use and makes recommendations on changes to your PATH statement that could reduce disk accesses by several percent.
