EDITING PREFERENCES To access this feature, click on the Preferences button or pull down the Edit menu and select the Preferences option. From this screen you can change the format of the Printer Output, adjust the way CASH makes its predictions or tell tell the program how far back to look for "recent" stats. BEST BET FILTERS CASH makes its "BEST BET" selections based on the difference between the CASH line and the actual line. By changing the filter settings, you can experiment with and optimize the number of picks you receive versus their "strength." A game will NOT be chosen as a BEST BET if the difference between the CASH line and the actual line is less than the "Line Minimum" value, or greater than the "Line Maximum" value. In other words, using the default settings, a game will ONLY be considered a BEST BET if the line difference is greater than six, but less than 15. The O/U (Over/Under) BEST BETS are figured the same, though the default value for the O/U Maximum filter is 13. EXAMPLE: Denver is a 3 point favorite over the Raiders. CASH predicts that Denver will win by 10 points. The difference between the actual line and Cash's prediction is 7 (10 - 3); if this number falls between the line minimum and line maximum values the game would be considered a BEST BET. To change a setting, simply click in the appropriate box and use your Delete key or back space to erase the current value, then type in a new one. You can press the Default button at any time to return to the default settings. MON. NIGHT and LINE 10+ Teams play differently on Monday night. Perhaps it's the national coverage, perhaps it's something else; but statistically, CASH has not been consistent picking winners for this weekly contest. If you would like to see Monday Night games included in the BEST BETS listings, click on the "Mon. Night" box to turn OFF this filter. Likewise, CASH has not been as accurate picking winners when the line for the game has exceeded ten points. This filter can also be removed by clicking on the small "Line 10+" check box. RECENT DATA Every time you load the data for a given week CASH checks to see if "recent" data exists. How far back the program looks is determined by the value you set in the Recent Weeks Adjustment text box. If this value is 5, for example, and you are attempting to open the stat file for week 8, CASH will check back 5 weeks and see if a data file exists for week 3. (8 - 5) If a file DOES exist, CASH will ask if you would like to use "recent" data. If you click on the "Automatically adjust data during loads" check box, you will NOT receive any prompts and the statistics will be adjusted automatically -- if the appropriate data files exist. NOTE: You MUST put a check mark in this box if you want to use recent data for the View Best Bet Results feature. If the box is not checked, CASH will always use season statistics for this feature. OFFICE POOL PICKER The Pool Picks Filter is used to determine at what level CASH is used versus the actual line for making confidence pool predictions. CASH takes all the games whose lines are greater than the filter and ranks them, in descending order. If the filter is 8, for example, all games with a Vegas line greater than 8 are selected first, from the highest to the lowest, and the remaining games are then ranked by CASH. Setting this filter to 99, then, would cause all the games to be ranked by CASH, whereas a filter setting of 0 would result in rankings based on nothing but the line. Because some confidence pools start at 14 and count down, while others start at 1 and count up, you can select the appropriate scoring method by clicking on one of the two option buttons. PRINTER OUTPUT Choose the "Graphical" output by clicking on the appropriate button. This mode will cause CASH to print everything just as you see it on your screen. (This may not look good on all printers...) Click on the "Text" button to have CASH print out screens as text only. You can adjust the margins of this text by changing the left and top margin text boxes. (Each number represents a character, so if the left margin is set at 10, text will begin printing 10 characters from the left edge of the page.) SCORE ADJUSTER The Score Adjuster slider bar can be used to lower or raise the scores CASH is producing. Move the slider UP to increase the scores, or DOWN to decrease them, by dragging the slider bar to where you would like it to go. Alternately, you can click on the up or down arrow for single digit precision. HOME POINTS The number in this text box is added to the score of the home team, simulating a home field advantage.
