OPENING A WEEK When you first run CASH you can adjust the preferences and view the schedules and HELP topics, but you must load a weekly stat file before you can use the prediction and analysis options. 1994 is the default season -- you do NOT have to open a season before loading weekly data. To open a week simply click on the "Open Week" button on the far left side of the tool bar. (You will notice that as you move your cursor over buttons, a message will pop up explaining what they do.) Alternately, you may pull down the File Menu and choose the "Open Week" option. You will see that some weeks are ghosted; this is because you can ONLY open a week if there is a data file for that week in your CASH directory. (Data files are named "94WEEK.X" where X = the week number. See the section "Downloading Stats" below for more information about obtaining additional weeks.) When the Week list box appears, move your cursor to the week you want, press the left mouse button and then click on "OK". You may also "double click" on a week to open that data file. The status bar at the bottom of the screen will indicate, using a football icon, that data for the selected week has been loaded into memory. DOWNLOADING STATS Once a week CompuServe, America On-Line and other BBSs will receive a copy of the latest CASH data file. Once you have downloaded this file, simply copy it into the CASH directory on your hard drive. NOTE: If the data file has been "zipped" (it will have a ".zip" extension), you will have to "unzip" the file before copying it into your CASH directory. Unlike other programs that use weekly statistics -- requiring you to download or enter data every single week -- CASH uses season-to-date stats. This means that even if it has been several weeks since you used the program, you can still download the current weekly data file and use it for that week. In other words, you do NOT have to have data files for EVERY week in order to run the program -- only for the week you want to analyze. CASH may prompt you to "Use Recent Stats" when you attempt to load a weekly data file. For more information on this option see the section on Editing Preferences. NOTE: Do NOT copy the file "XXnums.cfg" (where XX = the current year) into your CASH directory if you have made any changes to the lines for previous weeks. This file contains a complete weekly list of the spread information as entered by StatCast Software, and transferring it into your directory will copy over any changes you might have made to this data. CHANGING THE SEASON You might want to analyze the program's performance for a previous season, to do this simply pull down the File Menu and choose the "Change Season" option. Move your cursor to the list box on the left side of your screen and click on the season you want to use. (For example, to open the 1993 season you would click on the file: "93SEASON.SCD") Once you have selected a season, click on the "OK" button. You may also "double click" on a name to open that file.
