The program's hydrostatics display is obtained by select main menu option 4, then the statics menu's option 7. The hull will be balanced, and a screenful of data will be shown to you. To understand all the information, you will need some background in hull design, but there is a glossary in the back of the manual on the diskette (HULLFORM.TXT). To see some simple editing tasks, return to the main menu by pressing the Enter key twice, select option 2, then option 6 (the line-smoothing item) from the editing menu. Select option 1 to select the hull line, and enter line number 2. Now select menu option 3. You will see the program's line-smoothing screen. As a simple exercise, press key "P", enter 4 at the prompt, then press the up-arrow key a few times. The line will distort in response. Press key "Q" to end this option. To re-fair the line, press key "S", and enter 4 at the prompt, then enter 1 at the next prompt. (In this example, the result will not be perfectly as before. Reasons are covered in the manual, under the "end Curve" item) You may also edit sections. Press Q to regain the editing menu, then select option 3. Select item 1 of the resulting menu, select section 6, then select menu option 3. You will be presented a view of the section. Press 1, then the right-arrow key. The point labelled 1 will move outward. Press R to redraw the section. Now press 2, then key C, and the right-arrow key again. The section shape will bulge outward, as you increase the section's curvature. When you have finished, press the Enter key until you are prompted for confirmation that you want to exit the program. Press Y, and the enter key, and you will be returned the DOS prompt.
