DOCUMENT:Q101871 27-JUL-1993 [W_NT] TITLE :INF: Information on the TDI Layer PRODUCT :Windows NT PROD/VER:3.10 OPER/SYS:WINDOWS KEYWORDS: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The information in this article applies to: - Microsoft Windows NT operating system, version 3.1 - Microsoft Windows NT Advanced Server, version 3.1 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The TDI layer provides support routines for TDI providers and clients. This is similar to what NDIS provides to NDIS drivers, except the NDIS wrapper also handles binding, hardware abstraction, and many other things that TDI does not. Examples of these functions include copying data to and from MDL chains, providing default indication handlers, and creating NetBIOS address structures. Although TDI doesn't do much now, it could in the future if TDI becomes an OS abstraction layer as NDIS has. TDI is also documented in the Windows NT DDK NDIS30 Network Guide.
