For your downloading convenience, the GrpIcon program has been distributed on BBS systems in three different packages. Each package contains a different subset of files and has been designed to suit different user needs. We recommend that you first review this file, then download the GrpIcon package which will incur the lowest download cost while supplying the necessary files, based on your present knowledge and Windows installation. Package #1: GRPBIG.ZIP This package contains everything associated with GrpIcon, and weighs in at 435KB. It includes a pretty Windows-based installation program that installs GrpIcon and associated utilities conveniently for you. This package is recommended for people who are not comfortable manually copying files back and forth or just want to see the pretty Setup program screen. To install GrpIcon using GRPBIG.ZIP, just unzip the files to a floppy diskette or to any directory and run SETUP.EXE from within Windows. GRPBIG.ZIP contains the following files: SETUP.EXE - Windows-based installation program SETUP.INF - Script file used by Setup LZEXPAND.DLL - Decompression Library used by Setup GRPICON.EX_ - The GrpIcon program GRPICON.HL_ - GrpIcon on-line Help file ICSICON.EX_ - Inner-City Software Icon Library #1 ICS.DL_ - Required for all Inner-City Software Programs BTTNCUR.DL_ - Required for all Inner-City Software Programs COMMDLG.DL_ - Windows 3.1 Common Dialogs (for 3.0 users) Sample bitmaps for use as Group backgrounds ARCADE.BM_ EGYPT.BM_ MONEY.BMP SQUARES.BM_ TANKER.BM_ ZIGZAG.BM_ LASTMIN.TXT - Last minute Errata (boo-boos) README.TXT - This file (Please note: All files containing an underscore in their name are compressed and should be decompressed using the SETUP.EXE program.) Package #2: GRPMED.ZIP This package is similar to GRPBIG except it does not contain the Windows-based installation program or COMMDLG.DLL, which is only required for Windows 3.0 users (it is included with Windows 3.1). This reduces the archive size to about 324KB. To install GrpIcon using this archive or the even smaller GRPSML.ZIP, please unzip the files to the following locations: *.EXE - The Windows directory or a directory reserved for GrpIcon. *.HLP - The Windows directory. *.DLL - The Windows System directory. *.BMP - The Windows directory or a directory reserved for GrpIcon. (Please Note: As GRPMED.ZIP and GRPSML.ZIP do not contain Windows 3.1 compatibility files, Windows 3.0 users should use GRPBIG.ZIP unless they already have a copy of COMMDLG.DLL on their system.) GRPMED.ZIP contains the following files: GRPICON.EXE - The GrpIcon program GRPICON.HLP - GrpIcon On-Line Help file ICSICON.EXE - Inner-City Software Icon Library #1 ICS.DLL - Required for all Inner-City Software Programs BTTNCUR.DLL - Required for all Inner-City Software Programs Sample bitmaps for use as Group backgrounds ARCADE.BMP EGYPT.BMP MONEY.BMP SQUARES.BMP TANKER.BMP ZIGZAG.BMP LASTMIN.TXT - Last minute Errata (boo-boos) README.TXT - This file Package #3: GRPSML.ZIP This package is similar to GRPMED except it does not contain the sample bitmap images, which ultimately reduces the file size to about 205KB. To install GrpIcon using this archive, please follow the instructions above for GRPMED.ZIP. GRPSML.ZIP contains the following files: GRPICON.EXE - The GrpIcon program GRPICON.HLP - GrpIcon On-Line Help file ICSICON.EXE - Inner-City Software Icon Library #1 ICS.DLL - Required for all Inner-City Software Programs BTTNCUR.DLL - Required for all Inner-City Software Programs LASTMIN.TXT - Last minute Errata (boo-boos) README.TXT - This file In all cases, start the program GRPICON.EXE to start GrpIcon. When you start GrpIcon, you may see a colorful dialog box appear notifying you that you have an "Unregistered Demo Copy". This dialog box will appear about once every three hours until GrpIcon is registered, in which case the dialog box will not appear unless you choose "About GrpIcon" from the new Program Manager Group menu. When the dialog box appears, if you have obtained a Registration Number from Inner-City Software, you may select the "Register Me" button to register GrpIcon. Otherwise, simply click the "Go!" button to continue. When GrpIcon is started, you will not see any icon appear for it. This is because GrpIcon's mission is to make your Windows Program Manager act just like it had the ability to customize Group windows all along, so all of GrpIcon's functions are accessible directly from Program Manager whenever GrpIcon is running. Just click on the Control Menu (also known as the System Menu) of any Program Manager Group window, or press Alt-minus with the keyboard to open the Control Menu of the active Program Manager Group. You will see a new, colorful menu item entitled "Group Properties". Select the new "Group Properties" menu item, and another snazzy menu will appear which allows you to access the various GrpIcon features. From here on in, have fun, experiment, and if you have questions, consult the on-line Help, which is available by clicking on the Help button in any GrpIcon dialog box. If your question is not answered by the on-line Help, give us a call at (617) 536-6946, and ask for Technical Support. Enjoy! P.S. If you received GrpIcon on a floppy diskette, the diskette contains all of the files included in GRPBIG.ZIP in the root directory, and copies of all three of the zip files in a directory called UPLOAD. As GrpIcon is shareware, we ask that you support the shareware concept by uploading the files in the UPLOAD directory to any BBS system or on-line service to which you have access. This will increase your upload credits and improve your karma, honest! Til we meet again, have fun, and do something nice for somebody today, OK? Peace! - Kenny G.
