Notice WordCab is a file cabinet or file management front end for Microsoft Word for Windows. WordCab was written by Frank Ramos. Please send problem reports and other comments to 72202.2574@compuserve.com. Installation Put WORDCAB.EXE and WORDCAB.HLP together in any directory (typically the same directory where you put WINWORD.EXE). Run WORDCAB.EXE and use the Change Directory option of the File menu to change to the directory where you normally store your WinWord document files. That's it! The first time WordCab is run, files WORDCAB.INI and WORDCAB.DAT will be created in the directory where WORDCAB.EXE was put. These files will be updated each time WordCab is run thereafter. WordCab makes no other modifications to your system besides creating these 2 work files. To uninstall WordCab, just delete WORDCAB.EXE, .HLP, .INI and .DAT. Special Instructions for Non-English users If you are using a non-English version of WinWord, then you may need to do the following to make WordCab work correctly. Run WordCab and immediately exit. This will cause the .INI file to be created (or updated if you had been using a previous version of WordCab). Then change the FileOpen and FileNew parameters in the .INI file to match the WordBasic syntax for your version of WinWord. For example, users of the German version of WinWord should make these parameters look like the following (the "O" in "Offnen" needs an umlaut): FileNew=[DateiNeuStandard] FileOpen=[DateiOffnen .Name = %s] The leading and trailing square brackets and the %s are not part of the standard WordBasic syntax, but are required by WordCab. You should be able to find the appropriate WordBasic syntax in the online WinWord help. What's New in Version 1.4 Fix bug in handling of filenames and directories using non-ASCII characters. Improved start up performance for directories with large numbers of files (300+ or so). What's New in Version 1.3 Support non-English versions of WinWord. What's New in Version 1.2 Fix bug where title of password protected document was filled with random characters (instead of "==>Protected by WinWord password"). Allow user to select font to be used for listbox. Add list of most recently visited directories to File menu. What's New in Version 1.1 Fix typo in filter dialog, which read "Find next" instead of "Show only". Fix bug where horizontal scrollbar sometimes did not disappear even though listbox was wide enough not to need horizontal scrollbar.
