The Iconizer 2 revision 1.01 (or 2.01) , 1/11/94 added the a feature to enable useage as a shell properly, when the line UseAsShell=1 exists in icon.ini then Iconizer 2 will load the program on the load= and run= line in the win.ini file Written By Mathew Dredge NOTE... This program is freeware and if you like it, you could try to e-mail me at one of the addresses below, I would like to know if it is being used. HISTORY The Iconizer Was originally written so that I did not have to use the program manager all the time. I wanted a program that did not take up large areas of screen, used drag-n-drop, placed anywhere on the screen, any dimensions, used a single click to run a program and many other features. What I found was a number of programs that had one feature or the other but were allways limited in what it could do. There were also nagging shareware screens or it was written with visual basic (Very Slow). I Wrote a version of this program in C for windows, My first attempt at a windows program. It was a horrable program but it was Fast. In most cases it was faster than the program manager. When I learnt Object Oirentated C++ I soon decided that a good thing to do in the holiday would be to rewrite the iconizer using Object Oirentated Techniques and ObjectWindows 2.0. The resulting application is much nicer and has about half the lines of code and does more. FEATURES Multiple Drag-n-Drop. Help. Program manager like dialogs. Simple Setup Dialog. Upto 100 Icons. Popup Menu. Quick Exit of Windows Restart Windows. Quick Reboot From Windows. Small, Large or no caption. Single or Double Click to run programs. Display Of Icon Title in bar. 3D Dialog Boxes Use as a Shell INSTALLING... 1. copy ctl3dv2.dll to the windows system directory. 2. copy the rest to another directory e.g. c:\iconizer 3. put the iconizr2.exe into the program manager startup group or in the load= line in win.ini then load the program or change the line in the system.ini from shell=progman.exe to shell=c:\iconizer\iconizr2.exe and add the line UseAsShell=1 to icon.ini restart windows. 4. press f1 for help or click the right mouse button on the window for a menu, WHY RELEASE NOW.. The Iconizer is not exactly finished, But then it never will be. The Imminant release of Windows 4 will spell the end of my need for this program so I leave it here as it is. WHO WROTE IT.
