Mailbox operation on 40 metres ------------------------------ >From Col VK2CTD. You will be aware that I have been transmitting an edited cw version of the broadcast each sunday after the 40 metre callbacks. This service was intended to help those stations who might have missed some of the cast because of poor propagation at the present time. I am now in a position to leave my system in an amtor/pactor mailbox configuration after the callbacks. The system has been tested with Jim VK2BQS and it worked fine with him. If you were unable to copy the cast because of propagation or just couldn't make it at broadcast time, please call in on amtor or pactor on 7042khz, once connected just follow the instructions from the mailbox. The broadcast will be entered into the mailbox as a message addressed to ANARTS and identified as the current cast number. I would appreciate it if one of the stations copying the rtty cast gives it a try out. The mailbox will be left on till approximately 7 pm local EST. This service will take over from the cw cast which will now discontinue. If the service proves popular I will leave other files in the mailbox such as amtor/pactor frequency lists. Because of the complex software of the program being used, it takes sometime to load the cast into the mailbox, so please wait about ten minutes after the callbacks before attempting to connect. Finally, I take this opportunity to thank Clem VK6CW for his assistance and technical advice in setting up the mailbox. Thanks a lot Clem. Cheers from Col ------------------------------------------------------ IPS WEEKLY REPORT ----------------- 03 MARCH - 09 MARCH DATE OF ISSUE: 10 MARCH 1995 DATE 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10CM 91 89 84 84 84 81 78 A 5 14 16 5 3 4 (12 ESTIMATED) T -3 12 -29 32 33 40 38 SOLAR ACTIVITY WAS VERY LOW ON 5TH, 7TH AND 9TH MARCH, AND LOW FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE PERIOD.
