Abele ^1PC GOURMET^0 is a database management program that allows you to store your favorite recipes on disk for viewing, editing, or printing as often as you wish! Special features include its ability to print recipe ingredients as shopping lists, a special cooking timer, and a few sample recipes. You may want to experiment with the sample recipes to become familiar with the program, then delete them when you are ready to enter your own -- or keep them if you like them! Retrieval of recipes in PC GOURMET is very fast because the database file is indexed by the title you select for your recipe. You may place each new recipe in a category of your own choosing or in one of the 34 default categories supplied by PC GOURMET. Think of these categories as the file dividers you might find in a recipe box or indexed recipe book. PC GOURMET is very easy to use. It is totally menu-driven, basic instruc- tions appear on each screen, and many additional "Help" screens are available at many points throughout the program by pressing [F1]. When you first run the recipe program, the database file is checked and the number of recipes counted. Up to 30 lines of Ingredients, Instructions, and Follow Up Notes can be added for each recipe, ten lines per screen. During VIEW-ing and DELETE-ing of recipes, use of the [PGUP] and [PGDN] keys will allow "paging" between each of the three screens possible for each of these types of information. The [ESC] key is always active, i.e., no matter where you are in the program, pressing this key once or twice will get you back to the Main Menu to exit the program or re-start it. Most program functions are requested by pressing specific function keys clearly identified in a bar at the bottom of the screen. Whether you are planning a three-course meal for a few people or an elaborate buffet for a large party, you can select up to 20 recipes from the filebox and have PC GOURMET print out a shopping list of all the ingredients needed for these recipes. If your meal requires more than 20 recipes, just run the shopping list option again and choose the additional recipes. The SPACE BAR toggles the selected recipes on and off. Moving your computer into the kitchen is not necessarily recommended, but if you do, you will be able to use PC GOURMET's cooking timer, which can time your cooking or baking up to 5 hours and 59 minutes while you are using the "recipe book" to view a recipe on the screen.
