The CAPITAL A will create a C:\MDTS directory and copy the MDTS
files to your hard disk.  If you use a letter other than C: for
your hard disk, you must manually create a directory and copy
the files.  Two floppy users may not use MDTS Version R.
You must have AT LEAST 384k of memory installed to use MDTS.

After the directory is created and the files are copied, you
simply enter CD\MDTS and then MDTS to run the program.

The MDTS.EXE program uses five data/utility files, as follows:
     MAILING.LBL a "shell" used by the label process;
     LETTERS.DBF a file of one-page form letters;
     GIVERS.DBF for the actual giving transactions;
     PLEDGE.DBF for the members' pledges;
     MEMBERS.DBF the file of members names and addresses.
    
To print the manual enter the command COPY MANUAL PRN  --  or
press a CAPITAL C from the DOOR selection menu.

The CONFIG.SYS file, among other things, tells DOS how many
files you are going to use at any one time.
 
This "file count" INCLUDES the program you are running AND
some "phantom" files that DOS uses for internal status.
 
For MDTS to work AT ALL you must tell DOS that you are going
to use 20 files (you may, of course, tell DOS you are going
to use more - up to the limit of your version of DOS).
 
You do this by having the following line in your CONFIG.SYS

The Member and Donation Tracking System (MDTS) is
a program for churches and non-profit organizations
who wish to track their members and the donations
those members make but who do not have a large budget
for software purchases.  MDTS runs on any MS-DOS or
IBM-compatible computer which has a hard disk and at
least 384k of memory.  The "Version-P" part of the
name refers to there being "A-thru-P" reports on the
report menu.  These reports include individual lists
of donations made - for your members' to use for tax
filing - plus internal finance reports and a telephone
directory in two different styles.  You will also be
able to print mailing labels and a "simple" type of
one-page form letter (but not a full word processor).
MDTS is ShareWare and costs $45 per computer from

Washington 98664.  Registered owners who wish to make
custom changes - and who have the 1987 Clipper compiler
may purchase the source code for an additional $55.
