System EX-10 Canada Shareware Instructions..... Many Sysops have reported that Master Decoder is their most popular door. We agreed, and to offer a challenge to our callers, set up a second door and called it GENIUS DECODER. This version offers more difficult coded words, and longer cryptic descriptions. Normally in Master Decoder, the Questions would be something like... HE WHO LAUGHS LAST LAUGHS BEST, and the clue would have been "Phrase". In Genius Decoder, the Questions would be something like... MEASURE WITH A MICROMETER, and the clue would have been "Who cares how close I am anyway?" It makes the game much more fun! Running Master Decoder as GENIUS DECODER... ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ You must of course be a Registered Sysop and have the Registered version of MASTER DECODER for any of this to work. This is a short and simple set of instructions. To run Master Decoder as Genius Decoder, simply create a separate directory ( how about GENIUS ) and copy all Master Decoder files to the new directory. You would have the following files in your new directory... DECODE.CFG <- Std .CFG file - same as any other - no changes required DECODE.QUE <- Any Question database - like the one in this ARChive DECODE.EXE <- The main EXE file of course DECODE.DAT <- User Information Then create a new .BAT file in your PCB directory. I call mine GENUS.BAT It looks like this... ECHO OFF CD\PCB\GENIUS DECODE.EXE DECODE.CFG CD\PCB ECHO ON BOARD Then go to your GEN directory and make the required changes to your DOORSG, AND DOORS files so your users can figure out the difference. I list mine like this Door # Name Description 1 Bay Street Bulls - An interactive Stock Market Simulation 2 Deluxe Card Guppies - Outrageous Fun on line 3 Master Decoder - Cryptic fun at it's best 4 Genius Decoder - The Genius Version 5 Pyramid of Cheops - Become a Master Pyramid builder 6 PoP Door - Vote for your choices on many polls 7 Yahtzee - On Line Yahtzee game 8 Solitaire Poker - Fun with on-line solitaire Finally, go to the MAIN Directory, and use an editor to edit your DOORS.DAT file to include the new door by adding a line like genus,,35 That should do it. Good luck with the Door. This idea is a freebie compliments of Doug Peterson, the Author of Master Decoder, and is released under the umbrella of System EX-10 Canada Copyrights. It's like getting two doors for the price of one! All rights reserved. Please note that Registered SysOps can always download the latest copies of both DECODEx.QUE and GEDCODEx.QUE files from the PC-Board SysOps conference on line. Allen P.
